GOYA, the Greek Orthodox Youth of America, is where young people come together to learn and grow as Greek Orthodox Christians in today’s society, and a place where they can socialize and embrace Greek culture. There are a variety of programs for young people 12 to 18 years old.
Saint Sophia’s GOYA chapter was founded and organized by Presvytera Toula Mekras in 1946.
The goal of the GOYA ministry is to help our young people understand and experience the Greek Orthodox Faith, while providing a foundation that will guide and strengthen them as they progress through their school years.
Members enjoy age-appropriate activities, discussions, service projects, retreats, social gatherings, and outings, all under the guidance of adult advisors. Most importantly, they learn the value of giving one’s self in service to others.
The James and Mary Pechewlys Philoptochos Scholarship for $1,000 is accepting applications for the 2024/25 college year. Applications must be received in the Church office by June 1, 2024.
For more information, please contact the church office at (305) 854-2922.
There are many ways to contribute and every donation, large or small, directly supports the mission of our parish.
