PASTOR

Reverend Father Spiro D. Bobotas
Saint Sophia Father Spiro

Father Spiro has served as Dean of Saint Sophia Cathedral since July 2012. He has a BS in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, and a Masters in Divinity from the Holy Cross School of Theology. A former business owner with an extensive background in sales, marketing, and media, Father brings an exceptionally diverse background to his ministry.

Prior to ordination, Father Spiro led the Youth Ministries of 60 parishes for the metropolis of Boston and the Boston Diocese Camp. In January 2001, he moved from his native New Hampshire to Florida where he further developed the “Come Receive the Light Radio Program,” now known as the Orthodox Christian Network. While working for OCN, he accepted the role of pastoral assistant to Father Christopher Metropulos at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Lauderdale.

Father Spiro was ordained to the Deaconate in 2006 and, subsequently, to the Priesthood. In 2013, Eminence Metropolitan Alexios assigned Father Spiro as Vicar to oversee the parishes of Florida’s Southeast District.

Father’s ministry is strengthened and enhanced by his Presbytera Lisa and their son, John Gabriel.
